Dawn Patrol
The show field opens to credentialed spectators at 5.30 in the morning. Dawn Patrol began in the early 1990s as an informal welcome for entrants arriving at the entry point, and has become a tradition of its own: cars rolling on to the 18th fairway out of the sea fog. Since the 1970s the Concours Chairman has greeted each one.
The judging
Class by class
Class judges weigh authenticity, the quality of restoration or preservation, beauty, technical excellence and history. Class winners go forward to senior judges and officials, who vote for Best of Show. Cars that take part in Thursday's Tour d'Elegance carry an advantage if they tie in class.
Best of Show · the 75th
A Duesenberg
The 75th Concours, on 16 August 2026, went to a 1935 Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedster originally owned by Clark Gable, shown by Harry Yeaggy of Cincinnati. The 76th will celebrate the centenary of Delage's Grand Prix–winning season of 1927.
