Founded in 1929, the Concorso is one of the oldest concours d'elegance in the world. Around fifty cars are chosen each year and shown on the lakeside terrace of the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este.

The trouser crease

The jury's Best of Show went to a one-off 1937 BMW 328 roadster built for the Mille Miglia, called the “Bügelfalte”, German for trouser crease, after the sharp line along its body.

The car on screen is invented; the crease along its flank is a nod to it.

Coppa d'Oro

One prize is not chosen by the jury. The Coppa d'Oro Villa d'Este, decided by public referendum, went to a 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster owned by Eric Blumencranz, United States.
