The circuit · the Ardennes
Seven kilometres of forest
The circuit runs 7.004 km through the Ardennes countryside at Francorchamps. It first held a Grand Prix in 1925, and Formula 1’s first Belgian Grand Prix in 1950.
44 laps of 7.004 km, about 308 km. First Formula 1 Grand Prix here: 1950.
Eau Rouge and Raidillon
Down to the stream, up the hill
From La Source the cars run down to the Eau Rouge stream, then climb steeply through Raidillon, more than 18% at its steepest, over a blind crest and onto the Kemmel Straight.
The circuit is drawn from OpenStreetMap; its hills, the forest and the grandstand on screen are drawn freely from the general form.
The weather
Dry here, wet there
The Ardennes are known for changeable weather: one part of the circuit can be wet while another stays dry. The race is on Sunday 25 July; it is not a Sprint weekend.
